From fibre to versatile nonwoven
In thermobonding, the bond between the fibres is created by melting a fibre component that bonds the remaining fibres. The fibre piles previously produced in the card and, if necessary, doubled using a cross-layer, are heated in an oven. The melting point of the melting fibres is lower than the melting point of the other fibres. Therefore, only the melting fibres are melted in the oven. This type of bonding can be used to produce fully synthetic, natural fibre, glass fibre and mixed fibre nonwovens.
The TWE Group's Thermobond nonwovens can then be thermally and/or chemically treated. They can also be powder-coated or laminated with films or foams.
Our Thermobond production
We produce a wide range of nonwovens on our modern nonwovens lines. The nonwoven can be flexibly adjusted to a wide range of properties depending on the proportion and type of melt fibres and other fibres, as well as the process control. The nonwovens are ideally suited for further processing. Whether additionally mechanically bonded, calendered, laminated with films or finished with powder or wet chemistry: the possible applications of thermobonded nonwovens are manifold.
Our nonwovens lines enable us to produce widths of up to 5.5 metres and grammages of 15 to 3,000 g/m².
Finishing and Further Processing of Our Thermobond Nonwovens
The further processing and finishing of thermobond nonwovens offers a wide range of possibilities to tailor the material to the specific requirements and needs of various applications. Through additional treatments and enhancements, the properties of the nonwoven can be improved and its performance optimized. The material becomes more robust, durable, and resilient. Additional features such as water and dirt repellency, flame retardancy, or antimicrobial protection expand the range of applications and make the needle-punched nonwoven highly versatile. Laminating options enable further functionalities such as sound insulation or thermal insulation. This finishing and processing flexibility allows for the development of customized solutions for a wide variety of requirements and industries.
